The app sits on your child's device and runs with their consent. It automatically checks their activities and interactions. It compares these against a "danger list" which has put NSPCC and CEOP advice into code and has been further curated by a panel of experts. If it identifies potential dangers, it sends warning flags to alert you in a timely manner by email. You can also log in to your dashboard to see these flags and other patterns and trends.

Yes absolutely. We have encrypted the data end to end. We are Cyber Security Plus standards which is the standard to which the government protects their data. To us your data is as important as state secrets. We monitor our infrastructure, activities and continually update our systems to guard against potential threats.

It is both a nod to George Orwell’s 1984 and a reimagining how a Big Sister used to protect their siblings before the internet.
In 1984 there was an all seeing, sinister Big Brother. Big Sister is all seeing but kinder and definitely not sinister. She’s on your side.
Before the internet, you’d expect a Big Sister to know much more than their younger sibs and also to know what they were “up to”. If they were doing something potentially dangerous they would let the parent know without ruining the kid’s privacy. Our Big Sister does this too but she is just plugged onto their devices and super charged with expert advice and AI. -
We start with the free trial so you can check it suits your family. Then we charge a flat rate every month. If you choose the annual cost you get a discount. If you want to cancel you can and you wont be charged on the next billing cycle. That’s it, simple.

We always suggest open an honest discussions and you legally have to have consent from your child.
For younger children the deal might be: “you can have this device but if you do you have to have Big Sister running on it to keep you safe.”
For an older child more nuance will be required but teenagers on our expert panel appreciate that their privacy is maintained and their parent is then reassured.
If you want any help with these discussions please feel free to email anne@bigsister.live -
This is a red flag sent immediately to you. It could be a completely innocent reason- maybe the phone has been factory resetted? But you need to know that the protection you’re counting on is running.
