
DR Peter Jenkins

Dr Jenkins is a Retired Consultant Psychiatrist, a Former Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and former Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychological Medicine, University of Wales School of Medicine. He is the author of over 40 peer reviewed scientific papers about psychological aspects of medical and surgical conditions and has participated in many international research projects in his field. He was clinical lead for a busy Deliberate Self Harm service within which some 1200-1400 episodes per annum were assessed by the team and was also a Medical Member of the Mental Health Tribunal in Wales, which hears appeals from detained persons, for over 25 years.
Identification of risk requires an understanding of specificity and sensitivity as well as social and clinical experience.
